Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for your question.

For the most reliable results, wait to take the test until one week after your missed period, when the level of hCG in your urine is most likely to be detectable.

The hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (better known as hCG) is produced during pregnancy.

It is made by cells formed in the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall.

Levels can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12-14 days after conception by a urine test.

For the most accurate result, test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up. It is concentrated from being in your bladder overnight.

Regards,
Maryann
