You need to call your doctor if you are having unexplained pain and bleeding from your medication.

Dear snq

Thanks for your question and welcome!

The best form of contraception is, well, different for everyone. It comes down to personal preference. And also remember that birth control is only as good as the people using it. In most cases of the Pill or even condoms, a woman gets pregnant due to incorrect use rather than the methods themselves failing.

If you don't like any kind of medication or condoms, then the withdrawal method is probably right for you. It is very effective for some couples but ineffective for others due to the risk of pre-ejaculate fluids. We cannot tell any couple what is best for them; it's a decision that belongs only to you and your husband.

The withdrawal method, when used consistently and correctly every time, can be effective. Most couples, however, use the withdrawal method in the "typical" manner (not "perfect" each time), and the effectiveness rate can be as low as 70%, as high as 95% with perfect use.

The other birth control method that is highest in preventing pregnancy, without using a hormonal contraception (the pill us 99% effective) and without using a male condom (about 98% effective) would include an IUD that does not contain hormones (ParaGuard), and is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.

You can see a helpful visual chart of your options: Birth Control Effectiveness Chart.

Hope this helps!
