Q:

Why am I unable to have an orgasm?

I'm 37 years old and have never had an orgasm. I do feel urges and desire sex very much so and have no problems with lubrication. I just don't understand why it doesn't happen for me. I am in a long term relationship with a wonderful man and would love to figure out what the cause of this is?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for seeking our help with your concern.

In some cases of absence of an orgasm, the cause might involve psychological or physiological issues.

Difficulty climaxing can be a side effect of certain prescription drugs, such as antidepressants. Anonymous, are you taking any prescription medications?

Focusing on having an orgasm may actually make it more difficult to attain. Try enjoying sensations and concentrating on the moment, with or without a partner. Anonymous, have you considered masturbation to reach an orgasm?

Have you considered seeking the help of a therapist?

Regards,
Maryann
