Hi Anon

This is a great question, thanks for posting it!

Many deodorants contain aluminium and the manufacturers will tell you that they are perfectly safe in the dosage provided and maybe they are right!

From the Alzheimer's Association:

"During the 1960s and 1970s, aluminum emerged as a possible suspect in Alzheimer’s. This suspicion led to concern about exposure to aluminum through everyday sources such as pots and pans, beverage cans, antacids and antiperspirants. Since then, studies have failed to confirm any role for aluminum in causing Alzheimer’s. Experts today focus on other areas of research, and few believe that everyday sources of aluminum pose any threat."

However, aluminum is a chemical that you should be avoiding. There are lots of aluminum free deodorants out there, a quick google search will let you know. Choose a deodorant rather than an anti-antiperspirant as these have fewer chemicals (including aluminum) or choose a natural deodorant like Toms of Maine.

There has also been talk of anti-antiperspirants  and breast cancer than you may be referring to - read more about that here:

Has this helped, Anon?
