Q:

Why does my lower abdomen hurt?

I have a pain in my lower abdomen that feels like it does before I start my period. The only thing is I am not supposed to start for another seven days. This pain is much more intense than I am used to. It seems to get worse and feels tight when I need to urinate and afterwards the pain subsides for a few minutes and the tightness goes away. I also feel like my lower back is very tight and this seems to make the pain in my abdomen slightly worse from time to time. Is there anything you can tell me that could be causing this pain? I am getting a little worried and unfortunately right now I cannot afford to go to a doctor. Thank you for any insight you may have.

Maryann,

Thank you so much for that suggestion. I will look into seeing a gastroenterologist. I did how ever go to the ugent care and the Doctor ordered an ultrasound and turns out i have a cyst on my right overy. So i then call my oncologist and she said that could possibly be a source to some of my symptoms. We are just going to continue the CKC procedure for the Cin2 and keep an eye on the cyst . I also just want to add this... its very important to listen to your body bc u know it best. Doctors kept telling me its just ovulation cramps but turns out it wasn't. I was persistent and finally some real answers to whats going on. Another thing is plz get regalur pap test it could save ur life. I found out 3/2012 that i had a abnormal pap when i was just 24 pretty young to hear the words pre cancer and surgery. I went in tho initially bc i was having pelvicpapain, again knowing your body and getting regular check ups. Verg important. Thanks again Maryann. Keep ya posted

I usually have irregular periods that are very heavy. I turned 15 3 months ago and my last two periods came one after the other. My last period was strangely early by a day and it was incredibly light, lasting for only two days and didn't even get on the pad. No blood clots or really dark blood like I usually have. I'm frightened by what this could be. Also, recently my stomach has been stiff and hurts when I prod at it. I haven't had sex but I masturbate with an object. I always clean the object with soap, but I'm afraid that I could be pregnant. Or have some disease. I share my bathroom with my brother. I know, that this is ridiculous, but I have a really paranoid sort of fear, that wakes me up at night and won't let me go. Does anyone know what this is? My parents don't know of my masturbation and I'm too embarrassed to confess. I really want an answer soon because the stress is getting to me.

I'm 43 yrs, unmarried. Had sex a few times with y boyfriend and since last one year had no sex. My last MC was on 2 May, 2014. This month I had no periods but I'm suffering from intense lower abdomen pain and pelvic pain. in 2010, I had cysts in my left ovary. After consulting a gynaecologist it resolved. Please help me.

Hello Jackie,

Please consult your gynecologist. Not having a menstrual period for one year would indicate that you have entered menopause. But, since you have started having a heavy vaginal flow with lower stomach pain is puzzling and needs to be evaluated by a physician.

Regards,
Maryann
