Hi,
I'm not a doctor, so I really can't advise you either way, I can only make suggestions, and the rest is for you to advocate for yourself. It would do no harm to contact your doctor's office and speak with a nurse to find out what they say. If only so you can tell your mother and have both of you (and your boyfriend) know the plan--it can be a comfort being in control, removing any stress. It always is a good idea to make note of any changes in your cycle, regardless if you call the doctor or not.
Again, good luck, and let us know if there are any further developments.

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and for being a part of the EmpowHer community.
Your boyfriend is right, if you're having your period, it's unlikely that you are pregnant.
An eighteen day cycle is short, but only by about 3 days. Most menstrual cycles for adolescent women range from 21-45 days. Have you contacted your doctor? What did they say? If you're really concerned, call their office and ask what they think--just for your peace of mind.
Otherwise, keep track of your cycle on a calendar. If you go a couple months like this, or have other symptoms (excessive cramping, migraines, etc.) call your doctor. There is treatment to help regulate your cycle (ex., birth control pills).
Here is an article I found on EmpowHer that I thought might answer some questions for you:

Good luck and let us know how you're doing or if you have further questions.
