Q:

Why is my abdomen hurting so bad?

In early April 2011, I was diagnosed with a 4cm cyst in my right ovary. This cyst ended up rupturing 2 weeks after my diagnoses and the pain was just starting to go away. Today I ended up spotting and it is not yet my time for my cycle. Before I got that cyst on my ovary I had spotting as well. Could this pain be due to getting another ovarian cyst? I am not pregnant, and also have had to pee like crazy the past few days. It literally started with my having to pee every 30 minutes to half hour on 5/2 and now the cramps are getting worse. Can anyone offer any helpful advice? I would be grateful. Thank you so much

Hi Missie,

Thank you for your reply. My cyst was not removed. I came into the ER on April 13 with severe abdomen pain, and when they did a catscan, they found that the cyst was no longer there, but there was a lot of fluid/blood from the rupture. My doctor is having me follow up with an ob/gyn and I see him on friday. The pain had gotten a little bit better until friday when I started bleeding again and it's a little early for my menstral cycle. I'm guessing I got it early, because I have heard that ovarian cysts can throw off your regular cycle. All I know is that my cramps are very painful, mainly on that right side where I had the cyst. I am on pain meds, but they hardly touch it. Do you have any input? Thanks so much!

Sincerely Heather

If your current pain medications are not working...you need to call your doctor and let them know your symptoms. If you do not call, they assume you are fine and the pain medications are working...so please let them know that your current medication is not working, and they can provide pain management support until you see the doctor on Friday.

Hi Heather,
Did you have surgery to remove the cyst when it ruptured? Medications? Have you had any follow up since? I would follow up with your doctor immediately as there may be a complication to your recent rupture. Can you please keep us updated on what your treating physician tells you?

Thanks and good luck,
Missie
