Why is sex painful now??

Here we go... This is really embarrassing, and I would rather not talk to my doctor if I don't have to. I am 20 years old, and in relatively good health. Four days ago, I was in the restroom at school an somehow I got some #2 in my vagina. Since I was in a public restroom, I couldn't walk out and wash off, so I flushed the toilet, and dipped some toilet paper in the water to clean myself off. I mentioned this embarrassing moment to my boyfriend and he grew very concerned. He was worried I could have gotten an STD from the water. I wasn't sure that was even possible, but after a little online research, I decided it wasn't a problem. Then sex started to hurt a little bit. Yesterday and today we had to stop because it was hurting me so much. I don't know how to describe the feeling. I have had painful sex before, but this is very different. It feels almost dry, but I am not totally dry. There is a slight burning sensation at the opening of my vagina. It only hurts when he is moving inside of me, as I the friction is causing the pain. I do not have pain when we are not having sex. There is no blood or anything in my urine. The only other factor would be that I have had many urinary infections- I read online that painful sex could be linked to this. I am so confused and worried. What is going on here???

Hi Anon,

Thanks for your question.
I don't know if you recall as a child, when you were learning to wipe yourself if your mom said "Don't forget to wipe from FRONT to BACK". There is a reason for this. When you wipe, you want to avoid getting anything that can cause an infection into your vagina. If you were to wipe from Back to front, then you are putting yourself at risk for an infection bu getting feces in your vagina. Since you already mentioned that you did get some in there, then at this point you would have to go to the doctor because you are likely to have an infection from the fecal matter. Until you take care of that it will continue to be painful and could get worse if left untreated.

Anon,

Call today and let them know what happened-- just as you wrote it here. It is nothing to be embarrassed about.
