Will Folvite Tablets delay the periods? Does it change the menstrual cycle?

I am 24 years old female. I am taking Folvite tablets for the past 1 month as advised by the doctor (as me and my hubby are planning for a baby). My menstrual cycle is 26 days usually. Will having Folvite tablets delay the periods? My cycle has crossed 28 days by now. So are there chances of me being pregnant?

Here are some questions you need to ask your doctor:
1. How does this medication help me in trying to conceive? Does it increase my chances of conception? How long does this take?

Please know, there is no medication that 100% guarantees becoming pregnant.

2. How long do I take this medication (duration), before we try another treatment?

3. What are my treatment options, and what are the success rates of each?

4. What have I been diagnosed with? What is causing my infertility issues?

Please call your doctors office, and get this information about your specific condition and treatment. It is important to know why you are taking this medication, what the success rate is, and what your next steps are (and when) if you do not conceive within a certain timeframe.

Good luck!

I am 23 years married female. Before marriage my periods were regular (28 days). My periods are irregular after marriage (30, 27, 35, 45). Recently a month was skipped. I got periods only after taking folvite tablets given by doctor. with in 4 days, I got periods. What could be the reason for this irregularity. we are not planning to have baby now.

Hi

I am 32 years and am actually shit scared of geting pregnant! And, also here in India, people make us (the over 30 age group) feel veryyy old and completely at a high risk for anything and everything, right from infertility to delivering babies with down's syndrome. In addition, we are told point blank that we can only deliver babies through the C section. I am also overweight, rather obese. Please advise whether: 1. I should start taking Folvite now? 2. Is there any possibility of a normal delivery post 32? I do plan to shed some kilos before conceiving though.

Thanks
Priya

Priya - Thanks for writing. We aren't able to provide medical advice, so you will have to determine for yourself whether or not you want to use Folvite even though you're not pregnant. In terms of having a non C-section delivery in India, are there any support groups or organizations locally that you can reach out to for obstetrician recommendations? That would be your best bet in screening your options to find a physician whose practice is in line with your values and needs. Good luck to you!

Mrs. Harish - Folvite tablets do not cause delays in menstrual cycles, but many other things can, including stress. The only way you can know for sure if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. We hope you and your husband will be successful. Pat

Folvite is folic acid, and is essential in pregnancy to help prevent birth defects. Folic acid is available in prenatal vitamins as well.
