Hi Anon,

Calcium is a mineral that can sometimes spike in the blood for multiple reasons. Causes of hypercalcemia include: medical condiitons, cancer, overactivity of the parathyroid gland, medications, supplements, and/or dehydration. Your doctor will investigate the cause behind your hypercalcemia. For example, the drug lithium can elevate calcium levels in the blood. So, if you are on this drug, your doctor may expect and elevated Calcium level in your blood work.
