Missing Mammograms and Ultrasounds

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts and lymph nodes under both arms in August 2006. After completing treatment, my ultrasounds for 2005 are missing. Attempting to locate them, I have heard stories from many women whose mammograms and other radiology records have gone missing after a diagnosis of cancer. These missing records prevent any hope of collecting damages - which is perhaps why they have gone missing! My time period for filing a malpractice lawsuit ends on August 29, 2008. I am desperate to hear from others whose records have gone missing while they were facing the terror of cancer and debilitating effects of chemotherapy and radiation.

Additionally, women must be made aware of the best ways to secure their mammograms and ultrasounds after a diagnosis. Instructions - perhaps through EmpowHer - would help so many women in the future!

Scary information

MKissner

I am so sorry to hear your story and thank you for sharing it with us - I am glad to know you are doing well now- and I have a quick question...

Why would medical personnel want to hide records? I am assuming there is a good reason for you to want to sue but you seem to have found a pattern with other women.

I mean this in the best possible way but I guess my question is why would people want to sue a hospital because they have cancer? Is it due to a misdiagnosis or because of bad medical treatment?

I hope you find your records, you should have all access to them - this is your body and your life.
