Keri:
Our three options that we had, that we looked at were trying to continue to try to conceive on our own by figuring out what the problem was, and fixing that problem, which we did try that in the beginning. The next option was, is to go down the path of infertility treatments and the various options that you have within that scope, and then the third option that we chose as another option is adoption. And we ultimately chose to do the third, which was adoption, but we put all three on the table and we looked at all three, and we chose what was best for us.

And, I feel as though that in seeing a lot of our friends and people that are struggling with fertility that they don’t put adoption on the forefront, that they don’t look at it as another option, that it’s kind of way in the back, and it is an option that happens when all else fails, when they went through their five or six rounds of fertility and it just didn’t work, then adoption is the final straw to have a child and, we didn’t want that. We wanted it to be a part of the initial decision that we were making, and ironically, that was never presented to us when they said, "Okay, here are your ways of having a child: either you conceive on your own, you go through these treatments, or the other option is that you can adopt." It wasn’t discussed. I don’t know if it’s the place for the doctor to discuss it, but it is an option, and I think that people should be aware that it should be an option at the forefront.
