I had laparoscopic surgery back in 2005 or so, and it really, really helped. However, it's back again (and has been for over a year now, but I've been avoiding the inevitable surgery until now, because I'm just too fed up with the pain.)

After my 1st surgery, my doctor (world-renowned Dr. Tamer Seckin) said that he believed that I could still get pregnant (we haven't decided whether we want kids - I'm 32, so we have a little while). However, he also discovered that I have a uterine abnormality and I just had some tests done to identify the shape (looks like bunny ears - cute... If it weren't my uterus), and I have to go back to Dr. Seckin with the pics so that he can decide whether that also needs to be surgically fixed at the same time as my second endo surgery.

So, I can tell you that the surgery definitely does help with the pain and other symptoms, but as far as fertility, I don't know. And, if I ever do have fertility problems, I wouldn't be able to tell you whether it's the endo, septate uterus, blocked Fallopian tube, or twisted cervix... Yeah, I'm a big ol' mess in there!

Other things that I've found can be helpful for the pain are OTC migraine medicine (combination of acetaminophen, caffeine, and aspirin); raspberry leaf tea (the one I've used is called Female Toner); caffeine; dark but not super dark chocolate; alcohol (although those last three, I've read, are bad for the pain, they seem to work for me); and long, hot baths (on bad pain days, sometimes I'll stay in there for 3 hours or so, refilling twice - belly totally submerged, iPad in a ZipLoc, large glass of cold water to stay hydrated as I sweat it out).

Anybody else have some pain-relieving secrets to survive until I get my surgery again?

Good luck to everyone.

Hi there, did Dr. Seckin perform the first surgery in 2005? I recently had a consult with him and am debating the surgery. Unfortately his office does not take any insurance so it will be a huge financial burden on my family. We will see how things go.

and yes hot steaming baths help significantly (I want to get a hot tub so the water says HOT longer).

:)

I have endometriosis both on my left and right side of my ovaries and am still being treated. My gyno is telling me that he will be doing a laparotomy.

I don't know if this will help but to me it has, if you have facebook there is a network on there for Endometriosis and you can read everyone's experience in endo surgery. It is called Endometriosis Network of Toronto aka T.E.N.T.

Endometriosis cannot be cured. It's one hell of an illness.

Hi;
I wanted to find out those patients who had endometriosis and were successfully treated for it what worked for them or what treatment was done that worked for them and if they were able to naturally conceive and have healthy babies.

Thanks

Hi,
I was treated for endometriosis about 14 years ago and conceived at the age of 38 and had my daughter at 39. She was healthy and she was conceived naturally I had a laproscopic procedure done. I have been fine ever since.
