At age 9, I hit puberty. I have always had diahrrea associated with my periods, horrific cramps, and terrible bloating. I figured this is what everyone else had. I suffered with that until age 17, when I started to get a certain pain that I thought I was going to die from. My mother rushed me to the hospital on June 15th, 2009. Since the pain had finally subsided and it turned out to not be my appendix, the doctor sent me home with lortabs. I continued to have this same pain over the course of several months, I finally found a doctor willing to do a laparoscopic surgery on me which did in fact diagnose me with endometriosis. The surgery was October 10 of 2009. After the surgery, I kept having this pain in my left side, which I just can't even describe in words. I told the doctor, and, in a nut shell, he told me that I was faking my pain. I've been through 3 other doctors who are unwilling to even do an ultrasound, and after an onslought of pain this week, my boyfriend decided to take me to the hospital, where they gave me an Xray for some reason, although I asked for an ultrasound. Now I'm 19 and absolutely terrified of the pain I'm in. I've tried diet, pain pills, contraceptives. And although I've been on Seasonique for a year now, I still have full and painful periods each month, and the bleeding is beginning to get worse. Is there anyone out there who will take me seriously?
Thanks for reading,
Hope

Hi Hope,
April 19, 2011 - 5:08pmThanks for sharing your story on EmpowHER. I'm really sorry you are dealing with all the pain and no support from your doctors. Have you tried seeking help from a doctor who specializes in Advanced Gynecology and Pelvic Pain? Like you I suffered horribly from endometriosis (stage four) for years before I found the right doctor who understood the pain and suffering I was going through, took me seriously and provided me with the right treatment I needed.
Your right you need the right doctor to treat this horrible condition and most importantly believes you when you tell him/her of the pain and discomfort you are in. There's nothing worse than having a doctor tell you the pain can't be that bad or make you feel like it's in your head! Reading your story makes me mad because I was treated the same way for years.
Here's a group you might find helpful, like you these women are also suffering from endometriosis they may also have some suggestions for you.

I'm not sure where you live but I'm happy to share my doctor's name and information with you if you don't have a gynecologic surgeon who specializes in pelvic pain.
Take care and let me know how else I can help you.
