Hello,nice to meet you all.
I had my thyroids removed just over a year a go,I have had trouble getting the meds right but slowly getting there.
I had Mirena IUD removed a few months ago after having it over 4 years,(I had it to control heavy bleeding)I found out it was the cause of a lot of my medical problems, weight gain, cysts on my left ovary, breast lump, and my thyroid being removed, now I am trying to get my hormones sorted out after Mirena mucked them up totally.
I know some women do ok on mirena, I thought it was the best thing for the first few years until I realised what it was doing to me and then went to the doctor and got it out straight away,I feel much better now all though I havnt lost any weight yet,Im working on that, its very hard to get it off.
I gained 2 stone on mirena, before that I stayed at the same weight no matter what I ate all my life, never had a problem with weight,I look like Im 6 months pregnant because of the bloating and Im still depressed about my weight.
I go through the Mirena crash still, I hope it goes away real quick.
Any how if you are interested in reading my full story and that of other women with mirena problems and the horrific things(perforated Uterus,IUD lost in their body, tubal pregnancies, death,it goes on and on) that have happened to them ,have a look at my Mirena help site below...

I had mirena put in 2yrs ago-6months after the birth of my first child- andhad a lot of pain when itwas inserted and for about 2weeks following with heavy bleeding(which wasn't a big deal). After that my husband and i started to have sex and he could feel the strings i had to go in two more times to get the strings shortened.by then my periods had stopped completely. about 6 months(i think) ago i started having awful cramping and i could only feel the tip of one string and i could tell that the other had travels just inside the cervix and was poking and had mad a lump to one side of the tip of my cervix, dr. told me she coulding feel it and told me to take some ibeprofen so i did after a month the pain finally stopped, but i could still only feel one string. just a few weeks ago we decided to have mirena taken out to try for a second child. dr said she could find the strings but had no trouble causing me pain so they moved me to the procedure room and caused me a lot more pain.but still couldn't find them-i had just felt these strings 2 days prior-so they sent me to have an ultrasould to find them- they were in the right place(went home and could feel the string). so they had me back another day and giv me a pain med to take before the procedure and would inject some kind of cervical block for pain-well needless to say the pain was awful and yet they still couldnt get it out. now They have scheduled me for surgery in a month to have it taken out. my doctor has been very vague on what the real issue is. im afraid something is very wrong and will result in infertilaty.
September 18, 2010 - 2:16pmOh and during the time ive had mirena in i have also gained about 20 lbs and had awful moods swings, at one point i was placed on antidepressents and that just isnt me. i chalked the weight gain up to my changing body and getting older but the thing is im only 20. i feel as if ive been bloated the whole time as well. my diet hasnt changed much at all- ive never been a skinny person. i used to be a consistent 5'3'' -125lbs before meeting my husband i was 130 before the baby. and i managed to get back to that after the baby but before the mirena now im tipping the scale at 150.
i hope once the mirena is removed my body will return to normal

Wow I was surprised to see that many of the women on here have had bad experiences on mirena. I have had mirena for 2 1/2 yrs with no problems except for some occasional acne. I have had it out for a few mths bcuz hubby and I wanted to go for a 3rd child. I'm 2 mths preggers after 4 mths w/o mirena. My two older sisters are currently on it, one is on her second mirena as her first expired, and they have been ok. I guess its just not for everyone. My prayers are with those that have had these horrible experiences.

Mirena has caused me horrible Side effects hair loss, cysts, mood swings, blood clot, panic attacks, and now have a lump on my left breast. I lost my insurance about a year ago and can't even get it taken out. I've never had health issues until the mirena and now my world is falling apart. I would not recommend it to anybody not even my worst enemy. Thank you for listening and I hope everybody reads the blogs about all of the horrible things happening to women who have it. Somebody needs to get it out of here and off the market.

Well I finally had my laproscopic vaginal hysterectomy,Im ok except I have an allergy to internal stiches so I am on antibiotics to treat it,this has happened to me with other operations so I had a feeling it would happen.
March 23, 2010 - 3:33amYou only have a few small cuts on your stomach, would be great if it wasnt for the reaction to the internal stiches.
Glad I got it done,no more periods,ever.
