I can’t believe how things unravel sometimes. Just a week ago it seems like time was at a standstill and moving so slowly. I found out that an old friend is coming into town late this week. Last time I saw her was over a year ago in Hawaii. It will be so nice to see her again. I also have another friend that will be in town this weekend that used to live here. My sister is leaving to go home on Thursday. I also got in touch with an old friend from High School. He lives in Guam currently, but found me on facebook and the blog. We have been talking over the past couple of weeks and he is planning on coming to visit in February. It will be so nice to see him again. It’s been since High School since I have seen him.
Sister Kathy and I went to the mall today. It was the first time I have been there since Gina and I went before she headed back to Buffalo after being at CTCA for a couple of months. I wanted to shop for a dress to wear to the Jewell Ball. My friend Molly and Bob from CTCA are co-chairing the event. Thanks to them I get to attend and bring a date. The event will publish a book called "The Facets of Life” and I will be featured! It was a little frustrating shopping for a dress because my body has changed so much. I didn’t have any luck today, but I’ve got until March to find something. My back and leg has been aching a little lately. It may have been from all of the running around and walking.
I’m starting to get a little nervous about traveling. I want so much to be able to take advantage of all of the adventurous things in New Zealand, but I know I won’t be able to. I spoke with Greg today and he was recommending that we also take a side trip for a few days to Sydney. I think he is going to check into tickets for us. I’m so excited! It’s so nice to have something to look forward to. It’s been so long since I have been excited and planning something big like this. I absolutely love traveling. I believe it is so good for the soul and such an amazing way to learn about new places, people, and things. Usually the more unique and different the place is, the more I like it!
It is now almost 6 a.m. I have been awake since 4 a.m. My sleep schedule is so out of wack! I am still sleeping on the couch. It’s been months since I have slept in my bedroom. At least now I have been getting a little more sleep. I used to lay awake practically all night. At least now I fall asleep at a decent hour. I just wake up super early and then sleep in late. It’s been difficult for me to get going before 1 p.m. since I feel nauseous and tired all morning.
Tomorrow I have pilates at the Village. I have taken one other class a couple of weeks ago and it felt strange, yet good to be back on the reformers. Last time my back hurt a little, but I felt fine the next day. I am hoping it’s just from lack of use and from sleeping on the couch.

Melissa,
You are going to LOVE New Zealand and Sydney. Even if you can't do more than sightsee, relax and enjoy, you're going to be astonished at its beauty and captivated by the people, the climate changes and just the experience of being "Down Under." I don't envy you the long plane flight, however; be sure to take anything that might make you more comfortable during the flight, like an extra pillow to help your back, for instance. I seem to remember that a friend made it possible for you to fly business class, which does make all the difference. Can't wait to hear more of your plans! And I'm so impressed with all you're doing these days. Thanks so much for writing.

Melissa:
I had not read your blog in a while and did not realize you had secured and planned your trip to New Zealand-Congrats. I agree with your statements about travel, it is my passion as well and I'm so glad you are preparing to see the world! I can't wait to hear all about your travels (not to mention your adventures at the Jewel Ball). Take Care, Kelley

Hi Melissa - It's wonderful to find you're so busy, and spending quality time with friends. It's always fun to shop for a special dress, isn't it? Don't worry, a special dress sometimes takes longer to find, even when we're well. You're probably really looking forward to going to the Jewell Ball, and it's fantastic that your story will be in the book! It's also nice to know that your BIG TRIP plans are moving forward, another great thing you have to look forward to. Keep us posted, and take care. Pat
