Here we are at week 4 of the EmpoHER Body Media FITness Challenge, and my progress continues to inch along. I'm still dealing with my injuries and will continue to do so for the next several weeks. My break from running is scheduled to end on March 16 just a few short days after this challenge comes to a close and just one day before the Rock n' Roll Half Marathon (which I will not be running - boo!).
Despite the limited training, I came pretty close to hitting my daily goals but clearly I still have some work to do. The biggest win for the week was the loss of two pounds. I'd love to lose another two - three pounds before this challenge ends. That would be a huge victory considering my injuries.
For the past week, my focus has been on getting quality time in the gym while not doing any weight bearing exercises on my lower legs. It's hard to find a replacement for running, but I made do with extra time in the pool and getting on a elliptical trainer - something I haven't done in years. I really detest the elliptical trainer - talk about one boring machine. The only things that make it bearable are a rockin' iPod mix and Morning Joe on the TV.
Other than that, there's not too much to report. My lousy sleep pattern continues, but I'm hopeful that my return to tri-training this week - and the 4:45AM wake up call to make it to 5:30AM swim practice - will make me more disciplined to hit the hay earlier.
