It's week 4 into my EmpowHER BodyMedia FITness Challenge--and I'm making even better progress. Last week, I vowed to increase my walking and really work on having more active weekends, and I did just that.
Walking Progress
Last week, I vowed to walk 5 times a week. And I did that. After I finish my work (I'm a writer) I bundle up, turn on my MP3, and walk a mile to my favorite shopping area. I go there to buy soda, so it gives me another incentive to get walking--a writer must always be with her caffeine ;) From there, I'll walk back as fast as I can, and that's a little over two miles of walking, just to get soda. It makes me feel really refreshed and calm once the walk is finished, although my face is frozen stiff!
My goal this week is to keep to my 5 day walk weeks, but increase the time by just a little. My walks take around an hour and 15 minutes; I'll see if I can bump that by at least 5 minutes.
My Active Weekend
Last week, I vowed to stay active during the weekend by going to the Mall of America. And that's also what I did. On Saturday, I walked for a few hours at the MOA, did some shopping (hello really awesome...um, pants), and indulged in some healthy Asian eats at a place called Stir Fry Crazy. I had Kung Pao inspired chicken -- chicken, fresh bean sprouts and carrots in a light sauce with brown rice.
Oh, and I also had a Cinnabon. ;)
What I Need to Improve On
Now that I've been walking more frequently, the BodyMedia FIT tells me that what I'm doing right now is all I need to do to meet my 8000 step walking goal. My calorie burn is also consistently staying at 2100+ calories, and I want to keep it there, so I'll need to keep on walking frequently. Along with weightlifting again--I took two weeks off because I was experiencing some early signs of overtraining syndrome--I should easily burn at least 2100 calories everyday.
My goal is to keep up with my walking, my weightlifting, and aim for a 2100 calorie burn everyday. If I can do that, I'm good to go.
