According to RealSelf.com, 95 percent of individuals who have undergone a tummy tuck procedure say it is "worth it." But many individuals considering the cosmetic surgery often wonder when they can resume exercising following the procedure.
Because each individual is different, patients are advised to follow their doctors' recommendations. However, most patients are instructed to get up and start walking around their homes the day after surgery to promote circulation. In addition, physicians writing for RealSelf.com say that most people can begin or resume an exercise regime six weeks after the surgery.
"Six weeks after tummy-tuck is an adequate time for many cardiovascular type exercises," advises one of the doctors on the site. "Running, elliptical trainer, treadmill and speed walking are all excellent forms of aerobic exercise. Weight lifting can put a significant strain on the incisions and the sutures. It is wise to begin weight lifting slowly. Six weeks is a fine time to start, but start slowly. Do less repetitions and less weight than you were used to doing. It is most important to let your body guide you."
Tummy tuck surgery - also known as abdominoplasty - is a good surgical option for individuals who have excess or sagging skin on the abdomen that cannot be eliminated with exercise and diet. It works by removing excess fat and skin and tightening the stomach muscles.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), tummy tuck procedures were one of the most common cosmetic plastic surgery performed by member doctors in 2011. In all, more than 149,000 individuals underwent the procedure.
ASAPS reports the average cost for the surgery in 2011 was $5,278.
Those who are considering the procedure are encouraged to consult with a licensed, board-certified plastic surgeon to ensure their safety and a positive outcome. Additionally, patients are encouraged to ask a lot of questions beforehand and ask to view before and after photos of their doctor's previous tummy tuck patients.

This is really a helpful article for those considering a Tummy Tuck. The most important thing you can do is NOT jump into making this huge decision. Take time to consider the pros and cons of the surgery and healing time. Shop around for the best surgeon in your area. Check the reviews on the doctor. I know that there is a very good surgeon in the Baltimore area if anyone is interested. You can find out more on the Baltimore plastic surgeon at http://www.rottmanplasticsurgery.com , Just take the time to do it right.

I wonder if breast augmentation is #1. I have thought about the two and want the tummy more than the breast. So this isn't a shocking article, but always nice to see useful information.

Sounds interesting. Thank you for sharing. It's surprised to see six weeks after surgery is enough to take exercises again. To be conservative, it's always safe to go to doctors for advice before you take any actions.

All very good advice. Thank you for stating the importance of consulting a licensed plastic surgeon, asking questions preoperatively and following postoperative instructions.
