Hi everyone, I got a situation here. My period was suppose to come on 4-17-09. I was 4 days late so it came on 4-22-09. When it finally came on, it stayed on 2 days and thats not normal for me. My period usually comes on between 26-28 days. Before it came on, i thought I was having early pregnancy symptoms. I had all the signs, lower abdominal pains, lower back pains, sore breast, headaches, vomitting, etc. I have a 6 year old, but its been so long, i just forgot how it feels until then. Ok, is there still a possiblilty i could be pregnant?

Anon,
What are you reacting to? I don't see anything "mean" in the two answers above. We do get questions like this quite often, but we try to answer them individually because no two questions are exactly alike. Is there something specific that you are objecting to?

I actually think she is being mean as well. There was a question being asked that was probably intended for women who experienced a similar situation and ended up pregnant. So for the other questions to be asked was too personal and attacking. She gave us all the information we needed to know. Why do we have to know her contraceptive information. If you dont know the answer or this situation has not happend to you or anyone you know then you shouldnt answer because all women are not the same. Obviously she knows her body but she's not an expert and neither are you

Hi,
I'm not sure why you are questioning if you are pregnant, if you just had a period? Is it because you only menstruated for 2 days, and are wondering if that constitutes a "real" period or not? The average menstrual period lasts 3-5 days, but some can be as short as 2 days, and others as long as 7 days.
All the signs of pregnancy that you mentioned are also signs of menstruation, which happened as your were menstruating, right?
Another way to look at this:
If you were pregnant and bled for 2 days (similar to a menstrual period), that is not normal for a pregnancy. Was the bleeding a heavy flow like a regular menstrual period, or did you have just spotting?
Lastly, are you wanting to become pregnant? If so, are you charting your cycles, and planning when you have unprotected sex? If you are not planning to become pregnant, what options of birth control are you considering?

This response is a year later but I'd still like to comment, my grandmother had her cycle the entire time she was pregnant with my mother so it is possible to still be pregnant with a regular or irregular period. Women in my family my have two regular cycles before ever knowing which is why I'm concerned. This response is for those who come on this page and are wondering about the same thing and really didn't get any help from this answer above. My answer is from personal family experience and history.

My mom too had spotting during her pregnancy with me so was in denial for like 4 months about being pregnant, she had already had two children and said that her pregnancy with me was totally different.

You must live under a rock. There are women who do have period-like blood flow during pregnancy and sometimes dont know they are pregnant until a couple months in. Why are you asking her like she is dumb? You dont have that much knowledge because most pregnancy signs are similar to pms. If her situation didnt happen to you or anyone you know, then why answer the question with questions? Even doctors cant explain the period-like bleeding during pregnancy who made you GOD? Why is her personal choices in contraceptives and charting etc. any of your business???? You sound like someone's annoying mom who swears she knows everything. Do your research and dont answer questions because you are very rude.

Absolutely dead on. Alison's reply was unbelievably ignorant and very rude. When people ask questions, they are CONCERNED. If she cannot answer the questions without judging and being condescending, she should not answer at all.

I understand what you are saying, but its strange because im 27 yrs old, and my period never lasted 2 days! And as far as those early pregnancy signs go, this started happening a week after my last period went off, around 3/28/09. Thats what made me think for the next 3 wks that i might be pregnant. These symptoms just subsided. The bleeding started off with normal bleeding for the first day, by the second day it was lingering off, when friday came, it was completly gone. The blood started off light pink the first day, but turned really red the second. So thats why im questioning this.
