I have suffered with pain due to migraines for most of my life. until I got maried I could always go home sleep for 2-4 days, take extremely heavy meds and get over it. Now I am on STD, my job has posted and given my job away, of course in the medical field, where they should be more understanding. And constantly fighting withmy husband with him saying that I am not strong enough. Now I have a doctor that I thought understood, but I am begining to doubt, but my therapist does and she understands how much effort it takes to go on with the day with that much pain that it builds a threshhold so you can go on.
Does anyone know or has anyone experienced this? Sometimes I am so tired and think that it would be easier for my family if I was not here anymore.
Thank you for listening.

I'm so impressed with the different therapies that you're trying. I'd be interested to hear what you think of the hydro-therapy session. Does being active, like through the Silver Sneakers program, help with your pain?

Hi Tina-
July 17, 2009 - 5:36amThank you so much for your post. I have been going through accunpuncture, trigger point injections, the Silver Sneakers program to try to get active again. It is amazing how much of my body has "frozen up" since being in so much pain. I am now on a drug called Savella that has been approved for fibromyalgia patients since I found a NP that quit my old doctors office and went through her pain management certification. I had going through therapy sessions with a wonderful doctor as well but since I last posted I am now on social security and state insurance which will not pay for her. I am going to school right now, since for the first time in over a year I am actually able to concentrate on what I am doing and getting a 4.0. JR college but it is a start. I do have a pretty good outlook but it does at times seem dark when I am in too much pain and my husband still cannot realize that a simple pill does not make everything go away. I am hopeful that it will be resolved and if ot managed. I will check out your websites and let my NP Nancy know as well. Today I go for my first hydro-therapy session and I am looking forward to that since this week has been the worse pain since starting the Savella.

Also, while it sounds like you have sought assistance from traditional Western medicine, I found a great article on acupuncture which has been proven as effective as medications when it comes to migraines. Have you tried Eastern or complementary medicine yet? If not, would you consider it? If so, please let us know and we would be happy to help you locate resources in your area.
