There is devastation, destruction, chaos and pain happening in our world every day. Turn on the news, open your web browser, look outside your window and you will be confronted with this reality. In these past few weeks, trauma has hit home with the surge of energy that Hurricane Sandy exposed, and the horror we all saw and felt for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. When this level of emotional pain hits, we experience physical reactions. Stress and trauma manifests in our bodies, we experience pain and it can become paralyzing deep into our core.
The pelvic core is the center of a woman’s being, the foundation of all that is. It is the manifestation zone, the creation zone, the passion and pleasure epicenter. It is also the centerstone of distress, pain and strain.
When Hurricane Sandy raged and I witnessed the external force of the Hudson River flood my home, I felt depleted, exhausted, lonely, abandoned and powerless. I know the experience of emotional trauma trapped in my body- I have a deep level of awareness when it creeps up and wants to take over. Over the last few weeks, I have been able to pause the paralysis, tune in to my center, and heal. In connecting and healing my core, the foundation of my being, I have been able to stay calm and at peace through all of the chaos erupting around me.
My name is Susan Gala and I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, Holistic Pelvic-Core Therapist, STOTT Pilates Practitioner, & Post Natal Specialist with more than 20 years of experience. Years ago, a personal trauma became trapped in my pelvis and I suffered back pain, hip pain and then eventually sexual pain. After many years of successful study and achieving my own personal healing, it was clear to me that there was a missing link in women’s health: that most women know little about a most crucial and intimate part of their body, the pelvic core. It was through this experience that I created Feminine Fitness Within, with a mission to guide women through life’s journey to help heal their pelvic core, before having to resort to take medication or surgery.
It is my mission to educate women about a holistic approach to core wellness, especially after emotional trauma. I work with women to empower their pelvic core for a lifetime of renewed vitality and strength to stay calm, clear and at peace throughout any of life’s hardships. I teach my Clients to embrace their feminine movement, allowing them to surrender, survive and feel freedom in their body over and over again.
Right now, take a moment to truly embody peace. Turn off the news, close out the browser, and begin to create a sacred space wherever you are. Close your eyes and connect to your deep core. Know that you are not alone.
BREATHE.
Inhale beauty. Say to yourself, “I am beauty.”
EXHALE
Exhale bliss out. Release stress, pain, and trauma through your outbreath.
If you are able, take 10 minutes today to begin to discover the beauty that is feminine movement.
Turn on some music and dance to the beat of your feminine embrace. Lead with your heart and open your center. Take one step and swirl your hips, right, left, front, back into sacred circles. Embrace your arms around your heart and give yourself a big hug. Reach up to the sky, bow down to the earth, and sense your stability. You are stable in body, and you are stable in this world.
Susan Gala is the Founder of The Sexhercise® Method, helping women embody their pelvic power for health and sexual vitality. She sees private clients, conducts group sessions and leads workshops in the metro NYC area.
