I have gotten off of cymbalta about 6 wks ago but still have some side effects in my head\ when I lie down at night. It is a powerful drug that is really addictive. I wasn''t told that when I was put on it. My fibromyalgia has started back hurting at times since I am off of it and I don't know what to do now. It did help the pain. Do you have any suggestion for Fibromyalgia that is not such a bad drug and what to do to get this weight off. I can't exercise because of my heart condition and sciatica problems. Thanks for any help or encouragement.

Hi Tod
If you would consider keeping all of your questions together, it would be very helpful for continuity in answering you. Have you discussed this at any of your doctor appointments? Are you seeing a rheumatologist for the fibro?
There are several meds out there for fibro now, but with your heart and lung issues you need a specialist to look at your history and recommend something. You could ask at your cardiology appointment, but usually a rheumatologist is the specialist you see for fibro.
Afib does not preclude exercise, so unless you have another diagnosis, a little exercise will really help the fibro. Just something light. A great thing for you with all of your issues might be warm water swimming or aerobics. I don't know if you live in an urban area, but the Arthritis Foundation is a great source of information and help for fibro, and they offer low cost warm water classes specifically for fibro patients. Recent research has proven that a light exercise program decreases fibro pain.
You can find fibro treatment options at: http://www.arthritis.org/disease-center.php?disease_id=10&df=treatments. We also have articles and info on fibro: https://www.empowher.com/fibromyalgia/content/fibromyalgia-new-diagnostic-criteria, and I run a group here on the site for people with fibro as well.
Discuss your options with your doctor, find out what exercise you can safely do, and start doing it. You will feel better.
