It was Friday afternoon at the office. Everyone was ready to go home for the fourth of July The main reason for my visit was bronchitis. My oxygen level was 91. One week prior to my visit I pulled a tick off of my neck. I came in contact with the tick from someones pet. Their dog; Shorty. He sat on my that night and as I was driving home I felt something odd on my neck. Yes, I just pulled it off. Little did I know that this would end up being the beginning of the most debilitating illnesses that I have ever experienced. I literally have had just about every symptom connected with Lyme disease. Earlier symptoms were nausea, hot and cold flashes, and joint pain. The next set of symptoms were just a little bizarre. I started sleepwalking. This went on for several weeks and has turned into months. My heart started bothering me. It flutters of and on. My legs feel like electric current is running through them. I can not stand in one place very long and am unable to walk much. I have terrible headaches and live in a mental fog. I have been on amoxocillin, Keflex, Augmentin, doxycyclone, prednisone, and zithromycin. Over a week ago I started feeling that I had made it over the hump. Little did I know. The symptoms and debilitating pain is back. Now What? Also, prednisone for 3 months has put over 35 lbs on me not to say opened me up to co-infections. I have tried anything to boost my immune system. I take 2000 mg of vitamin c, fish oil. b, b complex, e, d, and calcium.

Thank you for sharing your story. Sometimes, just having the opportunity to share and have some one listen, is therapeutic. You have had a heavy burden to carry. I found this article on the CDC website, " Post- Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome". I thought you might find it helpful to know that approximately 10 to 20% of patients treated for Lyme disease with a recommended 2-4 week course of antibiotics will have lingering symptoms of fatigue, pain, or joint and muscle aches1. In some cases, these can last for more than 6 months.
