Three years ago, I started having anxiety/panic attacks. I had never experienced this kind of anxiety before. I was always afraid, panic took over my life, I couldn't sleep, lost 40 pounds. I would pace the floor all day. I had panic attacks about my health that took me to the ER several times only to be told it was anxiety. I never would have believed anxiety was a symptom of menopause. I thought I was losing my mind. I looked up menopause symptoms and there it was. I went on HRT but that did not help very much, just caused me to restart having my period. I was finally placed on an AD and after a while I started doing much better. After about a year was tapered off the AD and did great for about another year but a few months ago I started having anxiety again. Once again I had to go on an AD and it has helped somewhat. Some people can deal with the anxiety without medication, but I guess I am not one of them. I really wonder why we are never educated on the symptoms of menopause. No one had ever told me anything about it. I really think women should be told what to expect.

Hi Vonda,
Thank you for sharing your story. You will certainly help others that experience the same symptoms also. We all react differently as I know one woman who skated right through menopause with minor hot flashes and thats about it. It is amazing how we all may experience things very differently.
I am happy to hear that you now have the anxiety under control and good luck.
Missie
