My name is Victoria and I am a 43 year old Mom of two boys. My oldest is 13 and in the advanced 8th grade class and our youngest will be 12 in December and he is in special education 6th grade who has severe behavioral issues. I also have a husband that likes to complain and gripe all the time about everything. We have been married for 14 years and I am also having a hard time dealing with him.
My youngest child who is disabled with multiple disabilities and he is a handful. He has to learn to accept no and not go off on people and normally when he gets mad he goes off on me. He has Severe Verbal/Oral Apraxia, mild to moderate MR, ADHD and learning disabilities.
My dr. recently prescibed Xanax a low dose since when I went in for my appt a month ago, I was very nervous and agitated.
Needless to say, also my job adds some stress but by taking the medication it has helped alot and I am also seeing a marriage and family counselor compliments of my company EAP and I have 4 more visits with her, she is going to help me to cope with my disabled child and his bad behavior. I am hoping that she can help me to get on the right track with him.
Also I am overweight and met the right doctor to prescribe something that will help me to lose weight along with exercise. This is really helping me. I was a size 20 in November of last year and now I am a size 16. Recently I went from an 18 to a 16 and I feel so much better about myself and people are noticing the weight loss.
Thanks for this group!

Congratulations on your weight loss Missy1064 especially in light of some of the other issues you're dealing with. You obviously have a lot of strength and discipline and a take-charge approach. Good for you! Can I ask how you lost the weight? Did you follow a plan your doctor provided or do it on your own? Did you change your activity levels? Please share the secrets of your success.

Hi, Victoria:
You certainly have a lot on your plate, so to say. That you have found help dealing with the stressors in your life is terrific. I hope Xanax won't be a way of life for you, though, and that you'll be able to find the inner strength you need, through your counseling, to take charge without the medication.
BTDT (Been There Done That)
All the best to you!
