Wanted to share with you a great article I found in the New York Times today about options for women who may experience heavy bleeding. The article explores options other than hysterectomies.
Some of the procedures mentioned include:
Endometrial ablation;
Low-dose birth control; and
Mirena IUD.
While these alternatives are not without side effects, many doctors and women agree they are a long way from the measures of 20 years ago. The biggest issue now? Awareness.

Thanks for this. I came across this in the NYT as well and I hope as many women read it as possible!
While a hysterectomy is necessary in a small amount of cases, I am glad to see that more and more health care professionals are looking at viable alternatives.
