hi. im new here. im reading up as much as possible about thyroid insufficiency.
im having bloods done next week, hopefully for thyroid. i dont have a lot of confidence in the results though. i believe that drs arent all that concerned about lower levels, to a certain thing. however, ive been reading a lot online and can see that different levels affect people in different ways.
my health has never been good. im tired all the time, i have sleep difficulties, joing and muscle pain. when i was in my early thirties i was diagnozed with adrenal exhaustion. that led me on a long road that ended up with a historectomy . not nice. so.. that ended my treatment for adrenal exhaustion.
Ive taken the step of buying some thyroid tablets. im also goign to buy some selenium and vitamin c. Im hoping that this will help me . I would appreciate any advice here. i know that i need to be very careful about treating myself. thanks for reading my story. judych

Hi Judy,
August 17, 2011 - 4:15pmIt is very important to have those blood tests done. It sounds like you may have hypothyroidism. Only your physician can make that diagnosis. It is very dangerous to try to treat yourself with over-the-counter supplements when what you need is a prescribed medication. Here is the link to a recent article on hypothyroidism: https://www.empowher.com/hypothyroidism/content/top-facts-about-hypothyroidism
Please keep us posted on the results of your tests. Doctors are as concerned about low levels as well as high levels. Any abnormalities have an impact on a person's health.
Thank you for finding Empowher,
