I heard there was a program on the learning change about sjogren's syndrome. I would love to see it. Is it playing again? I have Comcast for my cable. Please advise.

Hi,
I just looked up the learning channel (TLC) as well as Discovery Health (also same network), and did not find an episode for Sjogren's Syndrome.
Do you have any other information?
Hi there DonnaD, It looks like one of our moderators caught the special on The Learning Channel. You can check out what she wrote here...And check your local television listings for that station to find out if/when the show will air again.

Hey DonnaD. You may already know about this website, but in case you don't:
http://www.sjogrens.org/
It lists research, support groups, patient seminars and their effort to create a large patient registry.
The episode of TLC's Mystery Diagnosis that aired 9/16/08 carried the story of the woman who was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome by her Opthalmologist. You'll need to check the TLC schedules to see if they're going to re-air the episode.
Hope this helps.
You can go to both the learning channel and discovery health and search . but Sjogren's doesn't come up . I try to keep up with when it is and post it on my website. I have not been able to find it currently scheduled.
You have to search for the titile. the woman who couldn't cry.
There is no encore presentation of this show at the moment on Mystery Diagnosis but they repeat fairly often so I'll keep an eye out.
If anyone is interested, you can download the show here but there is a fee:

I have this episode from Mystery Diagnosis recorded on my cable DVR, but don't know how to copy it or even if it is legal to do so. I don't know if it is what my auto immune disease is but an opthamologist discovered something was wrong but they thought it could be lupus. Sjorgrens sure sounds a lot like me. Could the network itsself make this episode available to people like us?

Your doctor would probably refer you to a rheumatologist, or at least have you go through a battery of blood tests to determine whether or not you have lupus. When I was tested, the process was to rule out other conditions until the diagnosis could be made. Then, my rheumatologist took charge of my treatment program, coordinating my primary physician with my other specialists.
As far as copying the recorded episode, it's not legal. It's also unlikely the network would make the episode available on demand to a viewer; however, you might see if your doctor's office could request a copy. Some networks make their programs available to schools or other institutions for educational purposes.
Have you talked to your doctor about being tested for lupus or sjorgren's?
Thank you for your reply. I have been tested for lupus but it didn't show a positive result on the blood tests. I have heard it can be extremely difficult to diagnose.
As far as the TLC show, I have it recorded on my DVR but I was thinking of how others who wanted to see it could view it.
I am living out of the country in a place that doesn't have close to optimal health care. That is why I go to the Mayo Clinic every year. That is also why I had to have four surgeries on a broken and dislocated hip / femur in a very short period of time. When you are told you need emergency surgery and have to stay on a gurney sans pain meds for four days, you really appreciate what you cannot have, and what many millions of people have to go through.
Thank you again,
Concha
