share: A Thank You from Ryan O'Neal
Having recently been diagnosed wth a recurrent HPV induced invasive squamous cell anal cancer has been quite devastating. I am now facing radiation and chemotherapy yet again.
Last fall, after hearing that Farrah Fawcett had been hospitalized yet again for her anal cancer, I wrote her a letter. I explained my own ordeal with HPV induced anal cancer and wished her well in her treatments. I never was sure if she received or even read my letter.
Monday, was a difficult day as I sat down to make calls scheduling my appointments for both radiation and chemo consultations . As I was preparing to do so, I received a package in the mail. Inside, was a picture of Ryan O'Neal and over his shoulder a picture of Farrah. He wrote specifically "To Bonnie, With love and thanks, Ryan O'Neal. It was a bittersweet thing really. While receiving this recognition helped to lift my own sagging spirits that day, it was also a reminder of her losing her battle with anal cancer only ten days prior.
