Being famous carries a number of pros and cons, although the drawbacks often generate more scandal than the advantages. In addition, this negative aspect of the fame, on some occasions, can lead to cruel and not very successful comments, that even arrive to hurt the sensibility of the affected ones. This is the awful plastic surgery case of Uma Thurman, who has appeared in all the media this week, but not for some of her films, but for a photo in which she is totally different from what she was.
"All the actresses live in a world in which the image is fundamental. They undergo great pressure over time and do not know how to grow old, so they ask for and want, in some cases, a radical change", explains Dr. Thérman and Renée Zellweger, Dr. Moisés Martín Anaya, from Clínica Ceta.
Neither is Jaime Tufet, director of the Tufet Clinic of Barcelona, akin to this type of treatment. According to him, "the need in aesthetics is desire, and desire is what gives meaning. In my opinion, this would not be the best option and I would try to dissuade from this change so exaggerated", but she knows that "the esthetic criterion is individual and does not have to be shared".
At this point, it is in which the doctors must decide if they take the step and do what the patient asks them. "In these cases, the professionalism of the surgeon is doubled to the patient's requests and, therefore, this type of operations will never look natural", explains Martin Anaya. And she adds: "From my point of view, you can not touch all the anatomical zones, only those that are aging".
"Surgery and aesthetic medicine are not magic wands to mold the face and body to the patient's taste, but to correct physical defects and improve the appearance of our body", says Dr. Vieira, director of the Unit of Aesthetic Medicine Dr. Junco, Plastic and aesthetic surgery. For him, "the essential thing, in any case, is for the patient to feel at ease with himself and to reach a good doctor-patient understanding to achieve that goal",
Does makeup have anything to do with it?
In some media, it is said that in cases like Uma Thurman, Renée Zellweger, Demi Moore or Catherine Zeta Jones the makeup could have been decisive. "It is true that makeup can change the appearance of a person, but in this case, you see that there is surgery in the eyes", explains Nuria Soteras, Director of Backstage BCN and aesthetics professional. "In fact, it appears the operation is recent as if it had not yet fully recovered", she adds. For Dr. Vieira "the makeup that looks is not the most appropriate, uses very clear tones that what they do is a more rounded face”. And she goes on to say that "as for the eyes, it does not wear just makeup or false eyelashes and we do not get that deep gaze effect and more delineated eyes”.
Dr. Jaime Tufet goes a little further and, in addition to the effect of makeup, believes that conditions "the photo, which can change absolutely one face", although it is clear that this is not the case: "Multiple treatments have been made Repeatedly in both medical and cosmetic surgery, with a single treatment these modifications are not achieved".
And what has become Uma Thurman?
Dr. Martin Anaya is clear that "an eyelid surgery has been performed, to obtain a more almond eye". And she adds: "There has also been a tissue replacement because you see a more defined jawline that corresponds to a facelift”.
In contrast, Dr. Vieira is not so clear that she has gone through the operating room. In the photo of Uma, we can see a very smooth front due to an excess, and very recent. As for the cheekbones, we can see that they are bigger and smoother probably for two reasons: one the filling that must carry, and two and the most important, the weight gain of the actress, which as we can observe tries to disguise with an Outfit totally black and oversize to disguise those extra pounds, but the cleavage, Comparing with previous photos, it reveals the increase of weight". Thus Dr. Junco's doctor believes that Thurman has only undergone cosmetic surgery treatments and that the fact that they are so recent causes "to lead to the confusion of believing that a recent surgery could have been performed".
Does it have remedy what has been done?
"Everything has an arrangement in this life except death". Dr. Junco has been the director of the Aesthetic Medicine Unit. "Aesthetic medicine treatments, much to our regret and patients, have certain durability so that after a while, little by little the fillings are going to be reabsorbed, and the effect of botox will decrease. If the patient wanted to maintain them would be necessary to maintain these", specifies.
Surgeon Moisés Martín Anaya, who believes it may not be enough time for the surgery to be natural, assures that the passage of time will naturally put the tissues back in place. "In months - between half a year and a year - it will improve the appearance and it will look more natural", she specifies. Although the most important thing is that "you have to know how to grow old", she concludes.

I agree making changes if you're not happy with your looks but I think people need to stick to things like laser skin care and very careful and subtle injections. A good hair color/cut and well-done makeup can do the rest. Once your face goes under the knife, things get scary!
