What are the early signs of Alzheimer's? My MIL's memory is not so good anymore....

How do you know what is just normal memory loss as you grow older (or, are surrounded by three screaming grandchildren and are just preoccupied) vs. memory loss from Alzheimer's?

Alzheimer's is a progressive and fatal brain disease that effects more than 5 million Americans. Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Today it is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States.

Belly Fat and Dementia

A study released Wednesday says that those who carry fat around their waists may have a higher risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer's Disease.

Taking the Test for Alzheimer's

There are now tests you can take to see if you are at risk for Alzheimer's. I took one such test and was found to be at 'moderate risk' although I did say I had a relative with it but she got dementia when she was 90! Not sure if that counts.

Anyway, no test can tell you for sure - not even close. But here is one test if you want to check it out
