A Woman’s Heart, Anxiety vs. Heart Attack

Written by Mary Kyle on September 16, 2009 - 7:58pm

There is no doubt that women today are under more stress than ever. One of the “gifts” left to us by the women’s liberation movement is that we not only get to fry-the-bacon-up-in-a-pan at night, but we are also frequently out there in the workforce bringing-home-the-bacon as well.

Written by National Women ... on October 29, 2009 - 7:30am

I've been feeling a lot of stress and it's finally caught up with me. So, instead of curling up in a ball and crying (like I wanted to do today), I've been forced to reevaluate my coping methods.

Anxiety - a Commonly MIssed Diagnosis

Written by Dr. Ramsey on October 27, 2009 - 7:28am

There are very few conditions that are missed as often as anxiety in clinical practice. There are two reasons for this, (1) the patient feels alone and afraid of what might possibly be wrong with them; (2) the patient’s personality with anxiety is one that is more withholding (less forthcoming) than in a patient without anxiety.

Uncover the Fountain of Fresh Starts Hidden in You

Written by Guy Finley on October 27, 2009 - 12:26pm

We tell ourselves that we want a new life; in our minds we see ourselves reclaiming our right to live without limitations. We see ourselves walking away from destructive relationships and letting go of negative thoughts and feelings. And this is the very problem.

How to Rate Your Level of Anxiety

Written by Elizabeth Stann... on October 12, 2009 - 6:44pm

We all experience some anxiety from time to time. However, some people deal with an uncontrollable amount of anxiety that it interferes with their daily lives. Rating your level of anxiety can help you determine how much anxiety you are dealing with, and whether you would benefit from professional help. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale is commonly used to rate anxiety: using a scale from one to four (one being the least and four being the greatest) on the amount of interference each symptom has in your life can determine how severe your anxiety is.

What are your thoughts about Medical Marijuana? And the dangers?

ASKED by Annefleur on May 5, 2008 - 11:49am

I'm wondering about medical marijuana and the complications it can give patients waiting for transplants.

Doctors believe that medical marijuana may relieve pain, and increase appetite, amongst other benefits, but because it is still a drug with some risks, is actually preventing patients on organ waiting lists from receiving a transplant.

They believe that marijuana can affect the immune system and may hinter recovery in the crucial days after surgery. And being a natural plant, it may contain germs like aspergillosis that can cause respitory distress and pneumonia.

Learn to Step Beyond Your Self

Written by Guy Finley on October 8, 2009 - 9:46am

Here is an amazing higher instruction that can help you step beyond yourself: "Walk away from the mental 'how' into the spiritual Now."

This secret instruction deserves our close attention. Its real value, like that of a priceless jewel, is best appreciated when seen from every angle. Just as it is the nature of such a rare jewel to reflect its inner brilliance in all directions, so is it the nature of this special instruction to light your way once you have unlocked its secret. Here is one of its keys. The journey outside of yourself doesn't take you to a place, but to the realization that who you really are lives above the world of thoughts and feelings. The everyday mental life which naturally includes asking "how" has its practical place in the world of auto mechanics, building a house or running a computer. These kinds of tasks are governed by the mental life. Living and working in this physical world, it is necessary to ask "how" in order to learn to "do."
