- Eat a low-purine diet.
- Limit how much alcohol you drink. Avoid binge drinking.
- Drink a lot of fluids.
- Lose weight gradually.
- Talk to your doctor about your risk for high blood pressure and heart attacks . These conditions are associated with gout.
