The immune system harnesses multiple types of cells to fight off infections. Often cells concentrate an attack on invading bacterial or viruses within the lymph nodes. For unknown reasons, immune cells in the lymph nodes can become cancerous leading to lymphomas. Another condition, involving weakened immune cells, is chronic granulomatous disease.
