Lisa, a 36-year-old legal analyst, is attempting to return her life to “normal” after a bout with breast cancer. Normally an extremely articulate communicator, Lisa feels increasingly frustrated when she can’t remember a common word, and these days, multi-tasking has become nearly impossible.

Lisa has “chemo brain,” a phenomenon of short-term foggy thinking and forgetfulness that afflicts cancer patients after chemotherapy treatment.

Most women don’t think about ovarian cancer. With no family history for roughly 90 percent, they know little about it. Consequently, few ever think to take protective measures that could lower their risk. However, there is something women can do that not only lowers their risk, but also reduces the risk of recurrence. Walk.

Ovarian Cancer and Why I'm A Fan of Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are not for everybody and are not always successful. It is, after all, a trial. But for me, entering a clinical trial when I had an aggressive recurrence of ovarian cancer, it was the right choice. Admittedly, I entered the trial with little expectation of success, but I was so wrong.
