The ovaries are small reproductive organs on each side of a woman's pelvis. They produce the eggs (ova) during the monthly menstrual cycle, from follicles within the ovaries. Anovulation occurs when an egg fails to develop, and other times follicles can develop into fluid-filled sacs (cysts). Various ovarian conditions are described in more detail below.
