Dr. Mutlu describes the symptoms of Crohn’s disease.

Dr. Mutlu:
The typical symptoms of Crohn’s disease are abdominal pain, weight loss, diarrhea or change in bowel habits, blood in the stool, fatigue, anemia, and sometimes symptoms outside of the intestine such as joint pains, red eye, jaundice or yellowness of the skin. Those are all potential symptoms of Crohn’s disease.

She specializes in gastroenterology and nutrition, and her research interests include diet therapy in inflammatory bowel disease, role of microbiological flora on gastrointestinal illness, role of nutrition in gastrointestinal disease, complementary and alternative medicine for gastrointestinal disease, and antioxidant treatment of radiation proctitis.
