Patricia:

I look for people who will listen to me, people who will ask me what I want and ask me questions so that we can get on the same page. You have to seek out those people because they’re not going to come to you. You’ve got to really be aggressive in that manner. You’ve got to work through that process and work at discovering it yourself. It’s pretty important.

It’s something that if you don’t meet together personality-wise or they’re not working well with you, then you need to keep looking for someone who will and you get a good dealing for that. The actual, now I use the MiniMed pump, but not broadcasting that that’s an important one to use, there’s so many different ones out there now that you need to research that, but find the team that works with that pump and their educators and learn all you can from them and they’ve got tons of classes available to you.

Most of your insurance plans also have diabetes education. You need to be aggressive and research those yourself because they’re not going to come to you; you’ve got to go to them and I found it very important to do that.
