Catherine describes wearing eye glasses before having LASIK corrective eye surgery.

Catherine:
When I was a little girl, and most of my life, I had glasses and glasses kind of kept you restrained from sports and activities sometimes. Not only that, people can be cruel, especially children. And now there’s kind of a stigma attached with glasses. People bear a sense of intelligence when they have glasses. It’s a geek kind of world and geeks are now cool and in my day, my younger day, geeks were not cool. So if you were intellectually stimulated glasses were an indication of that and you are kind of ostracized in some circles because of glasses.

So, you know, the world is a funny place and that doesn’t mean I am any more intelligent or not, it just means you wear glasses for a corrective reason.

I still wear glasses, sunglasses and sometimes if I show up on a site I have glasses that just have glass in them just because the sense of intelligence that are affiliated with glasses.
