Barbara Corcoran of Shark Tank in exclusive interview Homes.com

Barbara Corcoran, well known for her shrewd business mind and brash, tell-it-like-it-is personality, is one of the stars of the ABC hit show, Shark Tank. Currently in its third season, Shark Tank has a team of judges who use their own money to compete with each other investing in businesses brought before them.

Corcoran has invested in dozens of unique businesses and has shepherded them to success. Success is something she is now well acquainted with, but that didn't come her way until she found her niche.

Corcoran grew up as one of 10 children in a working-class home with few material advantages. In high school, her dyslexia made her a straight-D student. Before she turned 23 years of age, she had worked 20 jobs.

However, she persevered in trying to find her strengths and the twenty-first job would make her rich. She took a $1000 loan and started the Corcoran Group, a tiny real estate business in New York City. She turned that small business into a $6 billion dollar empire and has remained a prominent figure in the real estate scene ever since.

To chronicle her vast business experience, Corcoran recently released her newest book, "Shark Tales", which takes the reader behind the scenes of this millionaire’s life, businesses, and her Shark Tank venture capitalism deals.

EmpowHER recently sat down with Corcoran to ask her about the status of the current real estate market, how to show and sell one’s house quickly, and the number one mistake women make when trying to buy a house.

See the full video below, including an example of Ms. Corcoran’s famously brash but brilliant commentary:
