Father's Day is the perfect time to honor and acknowledge the love and care dads show for their children. Whether it’s your husband, or your own father, or another man that’s important to you, you can love them just a little bit more on Father's Day.

Even better, there are really great gifts out there that can help the dad in your life to begin or maintain a fitter life, without breaking the bank.

Good Athletic Shoes

As long as you know his size and width, a pair of cool kicks can jumpstart a man into walking, jogging or working out, all while looking great. Good shoes are important, but don’t have to be $250 Jordans. Check out local sports stores near you or go online. Many online stores offer free, fast shipping and returns.

From running to walking, to tennis and fitness shoes, there is something for whatever physical activity your man would like to do. Top brands can be found, from Nike to Adidas to Asics starting for as low as $50-$60.

Fitness Trackers

A really popular tool is a wristband that tracks his steps. It lets him know how much physical activity he has done over the day, and is a great incentive to reach his 10,000 recommended steps. Some bands also track heart and sleep rates, and will display calories used, for him too!

Trackers have some great options that come in simple styles which men who don’t like frills will appreciate. You can find fitness trackers online at at most sports and fitness stores. Gyms may sell them too. Fitness bands start at around $59.95.

Personal Training Sessions

You can skip expensive gyms and find fully trained and certified trainers at your local community or recreational centers. Many offer incentives like “Buy two and get the third half off” (or even free) and some can be as low as $45 for an hour-long personal session.

If the dad in your life would like a regular gym instead, they often offer great incentives, especially for new clients. Call around or check out websites in your area.

Summer or Short-term Gym Memberships

My athletic center offers summer memberships for good prices, and gyms often offer a three-month starter membership, so clients can decide if a particular gym is the right fit for them.

If the man you are celebrating doesn’t have membership, this is the time to do it. Summer has just begun and they can enter fall being fit and healthy! Call places near you to see what they offer.

Music

If your man is like me, he can’t work out without music. I have taken up speed walking and simply can’t do it without motivating music in my ears. If my phone has no power, I have to wait for it to charge so I can begin! Many people feel the same way. Music can increase our speed and even help to add an extra mile or extra 15 minutes to a work out.

You can find various various small, clip-on or click-on music devices at tech stores and sports stores, online, or in person. They usually have a long battery life, are very small, and offer hundreds of songs from many playlists or songs of his choice — even audio books! Some start at only $49.

You know the Dad in your life and what he likes. There are so many great options for affordable gifts. Find one that he’d love and give him the gift of health and wellness this Father’s Day.
