Dr. Pamela Peeke, nationally recognized expert in fitness and nutrition shares her "Three M's" and how if you follow them you too can have a healthier body after menopause.
Dr. Pam Peeke: Now look honey, perimenopause and menopause is challenging enough. What we do not want to do is really have to stress over what is going on with our body shape, which is really distressing for a lot of women where someway they cannot fit in anything and they do not feel right and you got the belly thing may be for the first time in your life, easy solutions.
The first solution is you have absolutely got to remember my little three M’s, they are my template and they are in all my books, mind, mouth and muscle. I like a litereation because it makes it memorable. The next one is mouth. Honey what are you eating? Now here’s a little reality blast, sit down, relax, and take deep breath, I love you but it is reality, you are eating too much. Relative to your age, you are eating too much. I worked with Olympians, I worked with masters, athletes and I am telling you right now when you get older whether you are male or female, you do not eat as much as you did when you are 20 and 30. It is just reality. I am not going to bring a tears with all the details but trust me there are some significant metabolic changes taking place so, that is the first thing.
Second thing is the quality of what you eat. When you are eating, think about what you are putting in your mouth there? Whole foods, whole foods, and whole foods, those are the choices, like science fair projects processed foods were out of here. It is not working.
The next thing is the frequency when you eat. You are skipping meals, you are blown of breakfast. Science now shows that you really need to be eating smaller feedings roughly every four hours or so and that works and leaving everything until dinner for that bucketing and feast those days are gone.
