Week 3: One Mom's Journey with the Nike Training Club plus a SWEEPSTAKES for you

The theme for this week is: Anything you measure improves. Last week, I made some activity and diet goals, took a baseline for my weight and waist circumference, and challenged myself to be able to report a positive result this week. And guess what? I can!

But before I tell you MY good news, I have some AMAZING news for you. For being such great readers, Nike has created a sweepstakes for a chance to win an iPad2 complete with the Nike Training Club app and COOL Nike gear including the Legend Pant, Victory Bra, and Free XT Motion Fit+!

So back to my results. I am happy to say that I have lost two pounds and 3/4 of an inch around my waist this week. I did five cardio workouts and racked up 90 minutes using the Nike Training Club app. The app helped me fit in two cardio workouts on days when I wasn't able to get to the gym. In fact, I did the workouts in my kids' playroom while they watched Sesame Street. My diet was pretty good though I did splurge a little while celebrating my five-year anniversary.

So, I know I'm a beginner. I know that there are people participating in this challenge that will blow my little results and modest goals right out of the water. But, everyone must start somewhere. And this is where I'm starting.

I am a former Division I basketball player (University of Illinois-Chicago), so I am super-competitive, but lately I found myself not starting something because I couldn't do it perfectly. Or, not being proud of even little accomplishments because I was comparing myself to others. But no longer! Last month, I ran a 5K. Not a huge deal to most but it was really big for me to run the whole race (albeit slowly).

I am a mom of three and my body does not look like it used to, but if I keep working and focusing on it I know I will see positive changes. Now, I'm excited to see what will happen next week! Stay tuned!

Week 4 goals

5 cardio workouts and 6 Nike Training Club activities. Wish me luck!
