Week 5: One Mom's Journey with the Nike Training Club

This really is a journey. There are ups and downs, highs and lows and I have learned that I need to try my best each week ... no, each day ... and that's all I can do. I had three fun but fattening events this week (a 3 Musketeers event, a dessert tasting for a local bakery, and a Disney party with lots of chocolate dipped deliciousness) and moderation didn't seem to be in my vocabulary. So obviously my diet wasn't the best. I did get in 5 cardio workouts but only got in 6 out of the 7 Nike

Training Club App" Get Focused" activities.

I didn't lose any weight but am down one inch in my waist circumference (my biggest "issue" area). I credit the Get Focused sessions for the inch lost. They are great for toning and I am always sweating after each one. The cardio one even made me grab my inhaler. These are quick workouts but man, oh man, do they work you out!

I guess this week teaches me that I shouldn't be so hard on myself. I just need to up my workouts to make up for a particularly bad eating day. I had the opportunity to talk to celebrity trainer, Bob Harper, from NBC's Biggest Loser at BlogHer in San Diego. I asked him, "When will I know my weight loss is good enough?" He told me we moms especially need to be gentle on ourselves and not worry so much about fitting into our pre-pregnancy clothes. He said to just keep working out and eating as best we can and not to focus so much on the numbers.(He also told me I looked "great!") So I am taking the expert's advice and concentrating on the good of this week and being gentle with myself. But, I'm not giving up.

Goals:

5 cardio sessions, all 7 Get Focused Nike Training Club App activities, and 7 days of moderate eating.

See you next week for the last installment of my journey! I hope to have some good news to share!
