Hi txbeck

Thanks so much for your post! Considering your circumstances, it's good to see that things are going well although as you know, caregivers need as much support as the ones they care for.

Here's a video with Catherine Back interviewing Leeza Gibbons about caregiver support when caring for a person with Alzheimer's: http://www.empowher.com/dementia/content/leeza-gibbons-shares-advice-alzheimers-caregivers

Some more help here: http://www.empowher.com/community/ask/are-you-caregiver-can-you-share-your-experience

and this one should also help you: http://www.empowher.com/dementia/content/tips-caregivers-those-dementia

I do hope some other caregivers can join in this discussion.

tvbeck, do you have a support group near you? People you can sit down and talk with, have lunch with, go on an evening out with?

I am a disabled caregiver. My husband has Alz. His cognition and calculation skills are gone with his memory, but he is physically well, knows me, and still cares! He takes care of me to the limit of his ability and I take care of him from my bed or wheelchair. I know there are other couples in similar circumstances. Would love to hear about others' coping measures.

This support group is for all who need someone to listen to their frustrations, fears, and concerns when dealing with a spouse who has been diagnosed with a dementia. And for those of us who need someone to laugh with and cry with too. We all need to feel like someone out there can relate to our situation. We all need to share our highs and lows with someone who's been there and those who are still there trying to hang in there for our "best friend" our spouse.
