Am I Pregnant after Unprotected Sex Join this Group

any advice or insight welcome! ty!

By March 25, 2011 - 6:36pm

my last period was march 9, 2011 and i had sex that following sunday. we used a condom, but alas, it slipped off (he didn't pull out before we went soft) in about the last week i have been feeling continuously more bloated everyday and have had slight "cramps". they haven't been normal period cramps, they're more just pressure and i'll get a slight twinge occasionally. my breasts have also been sore and swollen and i've been tired and nauseous (no actual throwing up thank god) for the last few days too. Smells also seem to be more apparent to me. I haven't been able to even finish a whole beer without feeling like i wanted to throw up (so i gave up after trying lol). I'm just getting more and more worried that i may be pregnant, and I'm just wanting to get some advice. I normally have a short cycle (around 21 or 22 days) and found out that i probably was ovulating during that time we had sex, I also know that to this day it is still too early for a pregnancy test to be accurate so I'm planning to wait till april 1, 2011. I'm just stressed and anything from anyone would be very very welcome. Thank you ahead of time!

Stress is just something I wake up expecting, and go to sleep knowing it'll be there the next day. And I don't know of anything that could lessen it, thank you though.

And my period finally started, 2 weeks late, but it started. So I'm just chalking all this up to stress. Thank you guys for advice and all.

It could be stress, whenpigsfly. Long term stress can ultimately affect the body (sometimes quite dramatically) and it doesn't necessarily have to happen straight away.

If you are under increasing stress, you may need to make changes in your life to lessen this. Do you need help in this area?

The stress would be my best bet if it does come out neg. cause i've lost weight lately, but it's been over the last year, could that affect it even though it hasn't been anything drastic? And the stress has been around years, but i've actually felt a lot less stressed lately...

Hi again,

I totally understand; everyone adds more and more scenarios to their situation when they don't have answers; it's only natural.

The thing about stress and/or obesity (or any condition, really) is that symptoms have to start at some stage. And this month may be the start for you, especially in terms of stress. The effects of stress don't have to happen immediately but sometimes, eventually, they do.

You can go to a free clinic where you can get a free checkup and/or pregnany test. You can find one in your area by clicking here: http://www.freeclinics.us/

Keep us posted!

menopause definately isn't a worry as i just turned 22. and i am overweight, but that has never affected my periods before. they are always right on time within a day or two. the only other time i've had one be super late was when i was like 14 and my cycle definately hadn't regulated it's self yet by that point. i guess it's just more waiting for me...cause i'm now at 10 days being late. but i'm hoping that i find something out without going to the dr as i don't have insurance and it would be way to much, so that's pretty much the last thing i want to have to do right now. at least if i find out i'm pregnant i'd be able to get medacaid or whatever it's called. i know i'm a lil stressed over all this, but i've been so much more stressed before and that's never made me late, so i don't think it's that. sorry to post so much, my mind just keeps adding more thoughts...

Hi again, I'm glad we heard back from you!

The most common reasons for missed periods are pregnancy and entry into menopause. I'm not sure how old you are but I get the impression you are in your 20s or 30s so menopause is probably not the case for you.

Other reasons can be under-eating, obesity, over-exercising, stress or an underlying illness that hasn't been detected. This last one would probably be the least likely factor if you feel in very good health and are not in any discomfort.

I think it's a good idea to see a doctor if your period isn't here by next week, especially if this has never happened before. Your risk of pregnancy is not as high as if he ejaculated inside you but since you were ovulating at the time, then there is a risk.

What could other reasons for my period not showing up be?

Still no period, or sign of. If it doesn't come by the beginning of next week I'm going to take another test and reguardless of what it says I'm going to go to the dr. if nothing else to find out why my period hasn't shown up yet...So I'm still just playin the waiting game, but I'll keep you updated whenever I know something.
