Hi Dottie

Thanks for your post. I'm sorry that you are tired and yet cannot sleep. This is often typical of depression, including manic depression and is very frustrating.

Rather than looking for a medication for now (even over the counter) a great way to become naturally tired is to get lots of daylight and exercise. Can you get out during the morning, afternoon or early evening and talk a walk for 30-60 mins? And get as much outdoor time as possible? Exercise naturally creates seratonin and dopamine in the body which help a lot with relaxation. Exercise and fresh air sounds old-fashioned but plain and simply - it works.

Warm baths with essential oils also help and consider not drinking caffeine after 2pm. With regard to an over the counter supplement, consider a seratonin supplement but please make sure to talk to your doctor first. Over the counter meds can interact badly with prescription medications and I am working under the assumption that you are taking medication for your bipolar disorder.

Let me know what you think!
