Hi Christine

That was a great article. I disagree with some of it (I do not think a breakfast of pancakes and bacon is better than no breakfast at all - in fact, I wrote an article recently that talked about studies showing that skipping breakfast isn't actually bad for us and does not lead to binges later on in the day) but I also very much agree with "legalizing" all foods (that's a great and apt expression, too!).

I once heard a personal trainer tell my co-workers and I (a health seminar our company had set up) to "never" eat bananas - and she listed the various proofs she had as to why bananas were a bad food. I left at that stage because it was pretty clear she was what I call a "faddist" - jumping on these band wagons that make certain foods legal or illegal. A rubbish way of thinking, in my opinion and a way to scare clients into hanging on to a certain plan (often with a fee attached) that these so-called experts frightening people into.

Although I am vegetarian and generally eat healthfully (although I love the odd pizza/pasta/pastry binges- the three Ps!) I don't subscibe to diets in the sense of plans that include/exclude and restrict. By their very nature, they are designed to fail.

I simply eat mostly healthy foods, take moderate exercise and try to get a good nights sleep. I allow myself treats when I feel like them but I keep them in moderation. This way of eating is simple, free of fees and I'm still the same dress size as I was before I had kids. Of course, a few wrinkles when I smile have popped up since having kids - but at least I'm smiling!

Thanks for this post.
