gastroparesis

By September 16, 2011 - 3:09pm

I was Dxed with gastroparesis I guess 2 and 1/2 years ago and have the vomiting under control. But I keep having these horrendous muscular cramps~~the only way I know to describe them, but what's really weird about them is that they run LNEGTH wise. NE one else w/ gastroparesis w/ similar problems? Would love to here from you. Thanks so much, AZRainbow

I get shooting pains in my abdomen and chest that run up and down. They are very unpleasant! I've noticed in my case that some foods might make them worse, for instance, after I eat something with a lot of tomato or tomato sauce, this and several other gastroparesis symptoms are more prevalent and intense for me.

Hi AZRainbow6024,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question.  The cause of Gastroparesis is unknown. But the reason for the cramps might be due to disruption of nerve signals to the stomach. Eating small meals and soft (well-cooked) foods may also help relieve some symptoms.

Here's a link that might be helpful.

Hope this helps,
